Wednesday’s acquittal of Renan Briceño Junior for the murder of Dale Tillett was followed today by the acquittal of forty year old Andres Bol. Bol was set free by Justice Denis Hanomansingh in the Dangriga session of the Supreme Court. He was accused of chopping up Luis Maas in June 2011 in Cow Pen Village. In another trial by judge without jury, Bol walked free after the only evidence against him, oral and written caution statements given by him to the police were not accepted by the judge. Bol’s attorney, Simeon Sampson, submitted in the court that his client was picked up by the police because he had a fight with Maas at a club prior to the murder. Sampson was also able to prove that Bol had been beaten by police and was suffering from injuries to the knee and chest before he was admitted to prison. The judge freed Bol after rejecting the statements presented by the prosecution.
