The Supreme Court has ruled in favor of La Inmaculada Credit Union. Justice Arana handed ordered the former General Manager Yolanda Gomez to pay the credit union almost four hundred and thirty-seven dollars in damages and court costs. Justice Arana also ruled that La Inmaculada Credit Union did not wrongfully terminate Gomez and is not liable to make any payment to her. The story made headlines back in 2015 when credit union placed its Gomez on administrative leave while it investigated allegations she did not comply with procedures and made questionable decisions during her tenure.   The silence from the credit union’s Board to its membership about the investigation prompted a protest in front of the credit union, and at the conclusion of the investigation, the credit union fired Gomez. The matter ended up before the Supreme Court. There were two civil suits – one by Gomez against the credit union for wrongful termination after almost twenty-five years of service, and one by the credit union for damages amounting to over four hundred thousand dollars against Gomez.  News Five contacted La Inmaculada this afternoon to find out more on the matter, but we were informed that a press release which has been circulated on the ruling would be the only comment from that institution.
