Forty-four-year-old Noewellin Williams has been ordered to stand trial for the stabbing death of his former common-law wife in August 2018. Roxanna Pop, the mother of Williams’ three children, was fatally injured at the Boulevard Plaza in Belize City last year when she was viciously attacked and stabbed as many as three times to the abdomen by her ex-husband. The thirty-three-year-old woman was reportedly standing on the verandah of the building with her back to the street when she was approached by Williams. He drew a huge knife and inflicted the wounds, during which he told her, “dis da fu weh you leff me.” According to eyewitnesses, Williams then ran up Central American Boulevard in the direction of North Creek. Today, in the courtroom of Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford, a preliminary inquiry resulted in a paper committal where he was informed that he must stand trial in the October session of the Supreme Court. No bail was offered due to the nature of the crime and Williams was remanded back to prison until his next court appearance in October.
