Tonight, the leader of the George Street Gang, identified as Brandon Tillett, also known as BT, remains a free man, while four of his alleged associates are on remand at the Belize Central Prison accused of being members of a gang. Twenty-seven-year-old Shane Harris, a resident of George Street, twenty-seven-year-old Henry Cornejo, twenty-four-year-old Jovan Clare and twenty-three-year-old James Palacio are on lockdown tonight. The four men were represented in court by attorney Leeroy Banner. In court, they were read a single charge of being a member of a gang when they appeared before Senior Magistrate, Tricia Pitt’s Anderson. According to police, the four men are a member of a gang within the George Street area. Allegations are that Harris is a member of the George Street Clique, while they claim that Cornejo is a member of the same gang. Clare and Palacio are said to be members of an offshoot of George Street known as the Afghanistan Clique. They all pleaded not guilty to the charge and while they are maintaining a not guilty plea, their attorney submitted that on the surface of the facts in the case, there is no evidence to substantiate the charge that the prosecution is alleging that the men are members of a gang and that the elements to prove the charge is nowhere apart of the facts before the court.
