Jermaine Moody

San Pedro resident Jermaine Moody awaits his fate after Supreme Court Justice Adolph Lucas reserved his judgment in a judge-only trial on a murder charge. The twenty-nine-year-old from San Pedrito area is accused of killing thirty-one-year-old Moses Coc on September thirteenth, 2014. Coc was beaten to death, hit several times in the head with a piece of stick. He had gone socializing with a friend after leaving work, visiting several bars in town. About five minutes after they parted for the night, he heard his friend scream for help and found him being beaten by a man. He tried to intervene, but was attacked himself and fled to get help. According to the witness, he did not attend the police identification parade as he had fled to his native Guatemala City. But police acted on his description of the attacker and arrested Moody. Moody is said to have told police that he got into a fight with two men who were trying to steal his bicycle near a hot dog stand in the vicinity of the Tropic Air office at the municipal airstrip. But the main witness said the incident took place on Angel Coral Street. Shanice Lovell represented the Crown and Moody was defended by Oswald Twist. The decision will be handed down on June twentieth.
