Andrew Ian Bennett, also known as “DJ Hard Rock”, was gunned down on Commonwealth Day, May twenty-fourth, 2017 near his home on Central American Boulevard. A few weeks later, police caught up to the man they say killed him, David Richard Arnold, who has now been told he will be tried on murder charges. During his preliminary inquiry today, Arnold told Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford that he was never identified in an identification parade by police, but she responded that there was a group identification as well as positive statements from witnesses who were clear that they could ID the accused if they saw him again. The case prosecutor presented twelve such witness statements and documentary exhibits including pictures at the scene and the post-mortem examination. Police also took a statement from Arnold himself. The Senior Magistrate formally committed Arnold to trial and invited him to provide within a week in writing the names of any witnesses he will call in support at the upcoming trial at the Supreme Court.
