Three San Pedro police officers accused of killing a bartender on San Pedro back in March 2016 will have to stand trial at the Supreme Court for manslaughter and not murder.  A preliminary inquiry concluded today with a paper committal and the trio will have to answer to the charge of manslaughter at the April session of the Supreme Court, set to commence on April fourth, 2017. The officers are Reydel Teck, Jahsimir Cob and Romelio Logan.  They were charged for the death of San Pedro bartender, Edwin Ixpatac who was brutally beaten to the head and abdomen while in police detention on March six, 2016.

This morning, Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith accepted statements and documentary evidence from as many as thirteen witnesses which the prosecutor will be relying on to prove its case against the interdicted police officers.  After being on remand for seven months for murder, in October 2016, that charge was withdrawn and substituted with manslaughter.  At the time, they were granted bail of three thousand dollars which was confiscated and they were granted new bail in the similar sum of three thousand which they all met before noon today.
