Tonight, forty-seven year old Roy Jones Junior also known as “Patties” is on remand at the Belize Central Prison following an allegation of rape made by a seventeen year old minor. The alleged incident occurred back on November ninth, 2014 in Belize City. Jones Junior, police say, had been on the run since the incident, but the long arms of the law caught up with him over the weekend in Punta Gorda. This morning, the suspect, who was unrepresented, appeared before Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith and was arraigned for rape. No bail granted and he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until November twentieth, 2015. This morning when he was denied bail, he begged the court’s assistance in seeking legal advice so he could get bail as soon as possible.
