Back on Sunday, March first, 2015, gunmen ambushed two men on Periwinkle Street in the Saint Martin de Porres area of Belize City. A day after the shooting, one man was charged and police today took a second suspect to court for the murder of Michael Welch. Late this evening, twenty-one year old Belize City resident, Lyson James Cacho, was arraigned in the Magistrate’s Court for four criminal offenses including the shooting death of Welch and the Attempted Murder, Dangerous Harm and Use of Deadly Means of Harm upon Kingsley Morrison who was with Welch at the time of the shooting. Cacho now joins the first murder suspect, nineteen year old Tarique Nathaniel Gillett, who was arraigned on March second, 2015. Both Cacho and Gillett are due back in court on August eighth. Welch and Morrison, two disc jockeys, were socializing when two gunmen rode up on bicycles and open fired on them. Welch was shot multiple times and died within minutes, while Morrison was shot to the upper right shoulder and was rushed to the K.H.M.H. where he was treated for his injuries and later released.
